Congratulations to Mel Dionne - The Pepper Lovers Club 2007
Chef of the Year!
The coveted title of Chef of the Year is no easy
task to accomplish. Successful candidates must be dedicated to all things
spicy,
have a good working knowledge of culinary techniques and must
be able to create gastronomique delights that are chosen as the
very best from a veritable
smorgasbord of fiery temptations.
The selection process, while simple to calculate and
comprehend, is quite involved for the candidates.
The first task is
simply to cook something and bring
it to
the monthly meeting. Sounds
simple, doesn't it?
Everyone can cook...but that doesn't necessarily
mean
that everyone should cook.
Some things are better left
undone...
We digress...
Cook something in keeping with the
Club's monthly
theme (found on the Calendar of Events page).
Multiple
entries per person are not only allowed, but encouraged!
Enter
the spicy specialty in the contest with our Club's
Best Dish Coordinator,
Mr. Grey Tuten. The hard work is now complete!
It is now up to the panel of esteemed judges, who
are selected at random each month from Club Members and Guests, to
taste,
savor and render the all-important votes that are tallied to
determine each month's winners. Points are awarded for the top
three dishes each month: First Place - 3 Points, Second Place - 2 Points, and
Third Place - 1 Point. One Point is also awarded simply
for
entering a dish - the more dishes you enter, the more points you
accumulate. At the end of the year, our Best Dish Coordinator
takes out his
trusty abacus and tallies the points. The Club Member with the most points
for the year wins....we told you it was
simple!
One more thing: you must be a
Club Member in Good Standing (Dues Paid) to enter and be eligible to
win.
Mel did this better than anyone else in the Club in 2007, so she
wins!
Congratulations Mel!
